Insuring a high-value home in Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo & Vilamoura
The resorts of the central Algarve — Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo and Vilamoura — hold some of the most valuable villas in Portugal, often used by the family for part of the year and let for the rest.
What is different in Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo & Vilamoura
Villas let to guests
Letting a villa changes the risk. Short-term letting in Portugal requires registration as Alojamento Local and liability cover, and the home policy must know that the villa is let.
Pools, guests and staff
Pools, events at home and household staff are where family liability matters most. Limits should match the family's assets, not the minimum of a standard policy.
The marina and the golf course
Vilamoura's marina and the region's golf courses bring yachts and sporting equipment into the picture; both are insured separately from the house.

How we work
In writing first
We read your current policies and the property before proposing anything, and send you a written opinion.
Specialist insurers
Homes and valuables are placed with insurers that specialise in private clients, chosen for the wording each risk needs; international health with Allianz Care, Cigna Global and APRIL International — always subject to the insurer accepting the risk.
One adviser, two countries
Portugal and Spain with the same adviser. In Spain we work under the EU freedom to provide services.

Frequently asked questions
Do you arrange cover for homes in Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo & Vilamoura?
Yes. Adler & Rochefort is registered in Portugal with the ASF (no. 425591790/3) and in Spain with the DGSFP (LPS). Cover is placed with specialist insurers, subject to their acceptance of the risk and to the policy wording.
Is there a minimum value?
Each specialist insurer sets its own entry level, based on the rebuild cost, the contents and the valuables. Below that, a well-built standard policy is often the better answer, and we say so in writing.
Is earthquake cover included?
Not automatically. In Portugal earthquake cover is an option that has to be added to the home policy, usually with its own excess. Whether it makes sense depends on the property and its location.
General information. Cover, conditions, limits and exclusions depend on the insurer, the policy wording and the acceptance of the risk.
