Spain — Health Insurance
Health insurance in Spain is shaped by the relationship between the public system and private access, and that relationship is different for residents, temporary visitors and people applying through a particular visa or residence route. A policy described as suitable for a visa is not automatically proof that it meets the authority's current requirements. The route, the applicant's circumstances and the wording of the policy all need to be checked together.
These articles cover the practical questions that matter before choosing cover: pre-existing conditions, exclusions, waiting periods, renewability, family members and the documents an insurer may ask for. They also explain where an insurance question ends and an immigration or healthcare-entitlement question begins, so that a policy is not treated as a substitute for confirmation from the relevant Spanish authority.
